Are You Waiting for a Promise?

storm-rainbow I have been waiting to see God’s promises for a LONNNG time. I know that some of you may be in that same place.  I have promises and prophetic words some as old as 20 years and some only a few months that I have not yet seen come.

I sometimes grow weary in the waiting and, yes, (gasp) even angry with God. For the sake of being honest, let me say I even begin to doubt,

Knowing God’s Character is good, and that he loves me, this usually cycles like this:

I am tired of waiting for :__________.  I am mad at God for waiting. God IS  good and just therefore there must be a reason. What did I do wrong ?  Am I being punished? Why?

I began to press in this last time with the why and let me tell you some things that I have found in the Bible that speaks to me.

Proverbs 13:12

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

John 9:12-13

When the disciples saw a blind boy this is the conversation they had with Jesus: His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

John 11 :Jesus deliberately ignored the request to come heal Lazarus and waited until he was dead THEN came and resurrected him. Why? To God’s GLORY.

So in our waiting, could it be that God is allowing us to come to the very place where it is only by God’s grace and power that we overcome? Is it NOT punishment but a path that leads to the glory of God?

There could never be a resurrection without a death. In order to rebuild, there has to be demolition, So is the hope that you have seen deferred (job. Salvation of a loved one, a spouse, the promise of better days, health etc.) We must see that the longing Will be fulfilled in due time, at the moment when God will be glorified. The tree of Life will bear fruit and we will have our Jubilee. That is our hope, our faith and our promise.

Our very means to the Father is because of death and resurrection. Just why did God choose death as the way? Why could it not have been the beating that Jesus took? Why all the way to the grave and then 3 whole days? Because that is beyond man’s own power. ONLY by the Holy Spirit Of God Himself can there be life restored. The Glory is revealed when we get to the place where there is no longer hope in our selves and what WE can do, then we have no ability to take any credit and ALL glory will be God’s alone,

Romans 5:2-5

Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Remind your self that NOTHING you can do or say can break the love HE has for you and NOTHING you do or say will speed it up. Be obedient, honest, real, and raw and allow God to disciple and discipline you through this time. In the end, His Glory will shine and your hope will be fulfilled. He desires to bless us and give us good things always,

He is not mad or disappointed at our immaturities because he already knows the state of our heart.  Just be real and wait. It will come. And HE will shine in that moment,

1 Peter 5:10

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

OUR  resurrection is coming.  May our waiting produce Longing and the maturity of character  that will reflect and Glorifiy God alone.

  1. So very good, friend!!! I t is hard on the flesh (death) to learn God’s WAYS. His will is easy if He is Lord of our lives but His WAYS of preparing us for the fulfillment of His will is something else… so thankful to be a part of your and Ryan’s life!!!
