Programming….what if?

computer code

Programming…it’s part of our lives wherever we turn from day one.  If we truly confront our real selves, getting down to the “nitty-gritty” shall we say…what would we find?  To our chagrin, we might find that we have been sheeple, following whatever ideology is popular when we are passing through time.  We do not believe we are doing so, because of our blindness to the lies of the enemy that are many times couched in 99% truth.  The greatest intellects of all time would not be able to defeat him, for he has had centuries upon centuries to study human characteristics, foibles and arguments.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” ~Ephesians 6:12

One of the most dangerous and sneaky forms of attack comes in a way of thinking that has become more and more ingrained into our minds…the ideology of neo-liberalism that holds individuality as the highest form of freedom.  This says, “I’m OK, so forget you,” which is only an illusion, perpetuated by our enemy.  Ads tell us whatever we do is OK as long as it helps us to reach our goal, no matter how it affects others in the world.  If the athlete or politician “Wins” then how they won doesn’t matter so much…or does it?

God did not create us to live as individuals, but in interdependent relationships to one another.  Only when we anchor together RADICALLY in the love of God can we successfully weather the storms of life.  Only through reaching across the gap to the least privileged to impart the freedom of Jesus and His provision will everyone know the true freedom He came to give us.  Fellowship, support, and the wisdom of others in our church family are essential to the success of our God-given purpose and mission.  We NEED one another!

“If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,’ and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?” ~James 2:15-16

Being in God’s presence is also crucial.  Worship brings us to Him personally…Jesus said that gathering together in worship is particularly powerful.  It is in seeking Him through prayer and praise that we find healing, wholeness, sense of purpose, and His wisdom.  Through worship, the power of God enters our lives, our minds, our bodies, and other dimensions of God’s creation, bringing in the Light that obliterates the darkness.

“…and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together…but encouraging one another…” ~Hebrews 10: 24-25

We are called to be rebels for God against the Programming we are bombarded with every day through social media, politics, and the arena of public opinion.  However, His promises remain, with His love steadfastly holding us sure on the path He has laid out for us.  We cannot always see that path any further than the next step {and even then we are not sure many times}.  We must persevere in watchfulness.  Against the grain must be our way of life.  Yet we will overcome because He has overcome.  The promises are certain because He is our Rock, and He has set us free.  The choice is ours, no? Let us be strong and courageous!

“In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” ~John 16:33

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”~Galatians 5:1

“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.”~Revelation 12:11
