Certainty for the New Year

A brand new year is here, once again.  And as every year, we all look to the new year with much anticipation and hope.  Many people resolve to make changes, usually for self-improvement, because they see the year before them as a book of empty pages, on which can be written a new story.   A new year is a mystery–every day unpredictable and full of promise and uncertainties.  We can resolve and we can plan to the greatest degree of preparedness, but not one of us knows what this coming year holds.
The only thing that I am sure of, that I can say without an speck of doubt, is that God is the only certainty.  He is the one constant–never changing, always the same.  He will still reign, regardless of who sits in a seat of power on Earth; God is the King of kings, the Lord of lords, from now until forever.  His power, love, grace, and mercy will never wane or fluctuate; He will always love us with an everlasting, unfailing love.  And even when we fail, His mercies are new each and every morning.
As you look out upon this new year, whether from a place of hope or apprehension, know that, as a child of God, you have no reason to fear.  No matter what events shape your life in 2016 or what circumstances in which you find yourself,  approach each day in confidence because you serve and belong to the good, Almighty, never-changing God.
~Alanna

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  -Romans 8:38,39
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”  -Hebrews 13:8
