Currently, I am reading a book called ” The Resolution for Women” by Priscilla Shirer. And the first part of this book it is teaching about contentment in christian women, which can be applied to men as well. And one of my favorite quotes in this book so far is “So if you don’t have it- whatever it is- it’s because you don’t need it. You may want it, but it’s not necessary in order to accomplish what He knows is most important for your life today.” Now I do not know about you, but this is really hitting home with me, like a punch in the gut. As humans we are constantly wanting something, whether it be materialistic things like a new car or the newest IPhone . Or maybe it isn’t materialistic, maybe you are wanting a new job or in my case another child. But in this book it reminds me that God loves us to much to “withhold” the good from the those who live with integrity (Psalm 84:11). Because if God wanted us to have whatever it is we are wanting he would have given it to us. So as christians we need to learn to live with contentment because whatever we have right now at this point in our lives, it is EXACTLY what God wants us to have, nothing more and nothing less. Now does this mean that we should stop praying for certain desires of our hearts- ABSOLUTLEY NOT but I encourage all us, me inlcuded, to look around and be thankful for all that God has already blessed us with and be content with what we have because our God knows EXACTLY what we need and when we need it! ~Lindsey

  1. I’ll admit… I struggle with this big time. I’m a gadget junkie… particularly if it comes from Apple. Thanks for taking time to share this blog!

  2. It’s a wonderful thing to be content with what God has provided, to find our contentment, peace, and joy in Him alone!
