Sharp Shooter

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. ALWAYS be prepared to give the answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have, but do this with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15

Born again in Christ means a new responsibility. What’s at stake? Possibly the salvation of others. A person who is walking blindly without the guidance of our heavenly Father is also a person existing in a state of confusion. This individual will also search in the same blind manner to find clarity whether they are aware of these voids or not and sadly, a lot of time, energy, devotion and what is known as artificial love will be focused on everything other than the Truth. The Truth that is Christ. Non-believers, educated or not are shadow boxers.

Meat and Taters

Knowing that so many of His lost sheep are straying away lost and CONFUSED, our job as being “fishers of men” is not to give half-truths and be uncertain about the rest…it is to disciple others with wisdom, knowledge and assistance from the Holy Spirit. If as Christians we are not on our “A game” we CAN and a lot of times DO add to the confusion of non-believers when we don’t have the knowledge to back up the precious investment we display. Not to cheapen our Lord and Saviors gift of eternal peace, love and salvation but an example I am tempted to use is this.. if a salesman is attempting to coax another into buying his product but hasn’t any knowledge of how it works, where it came from or how to use it, then no one will want the product. We all know that as Christians we aren’t “selling”, because what we are trying to convey is freedom for a price that has already been paid……So what will it require on our part?

1.Prayer
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

2.Discipline…and a hunger to dig deeper and be challenged by the word…dive into scripture. Don’t have a hunger or the appetite has dulled? PRAY FOR IT!

3. Reliance on the Holy Spirit
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and REMIND you of all that I have said to you. JOHN 14:26 (EMPHASIS ON “REMIND”…RECOLLECTION IS KEY

4. Finding someone who can pour into you. A strong anointing is HIGHLY contagious.

5. Prayer
Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly] 1 Thessalonians 5: 17

6. Humility. A humble heart is a teachable heart.
For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12

7. Pour into others. Don’t keep it to yourself…why would you want to?!?

8. ….and Prayer;)
Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).
Ephesians 6: 18

So, GO! Be fishers of men~Mark 1:17

  1. Leesa, thank you so much for this well thought out, well written post. It was exactly what I needed to hear today. Your commitment and love for Jesus shine out clear and bright; I love knowing you are my sister in Christ!

  2. This post makes me think about our thoughts on mourning for God’s people and how we are blessed to see the people around us as God sees them…. How true it is to have a sense of urgency for all God’s people and how seriously all of us who know Truth should share, for we have the one thing that can save their lives…… I have been loving this scripture from Paul : 1 Corinthians 3:6,7: “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything but only God gives the growth.” … I love this because it humbles me to know that while all things must be planted and watered, ultimately w/out God it will be nothing…… we must give God if we want those we love to be saved.
