Shine

Luc Viatour

The other day I was driving home from work, and the sky was covered in clouds.  They were so thick, almost no light was breaking through.  There was this one cloud with sun beams shining out from it on all sides.  It wasn’t enough to make the day brighter, but it was enough to know that there was still light even when there didn’t appear to be.

In Philippians 2:14-16, it says, “14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life.”

We are called to shine like stars.  Even when the world seems it is at its worst, Shine.  Even when it is so dark, that our light doesn’t seem to make a difference, Shine.  We must continue to shine.  Not that we have to light up the entire world, in and of ourselves.   But shine enough so that no one can doubt that there is still light.  No matter what there is still hope, the hope we have in Christ that shines through us all.

  1. Thanks for posting this, Ashleigh…it’s an important concept to meditate on, that the Light is shining even when we cannot see that it is there. In these dark times, we all need as much encouragement as we can take in, for the world constantly engages our ability to be transparent conduits for His love and light. It is His light that makes us shine like stars, not our own…that to me is what makes His yoke easy and His burden light.

  2. I love the scripture you used. Sometimes I need a reminder that an attitude problem does make my light dim, people can’t see past our grumbling, complaining and discontent….. I guess this made me think alot about how we are the ones who effect the amount of light we can put out in any situation bases on our perspective and attitude. Ouch!!
