I read in a book some time ago, that your five closest friends says a lot about who you are. I think there’s a lot of truth behind that statement. People naturally lean on common interest and therefore attract others with the same personalities.

Honestly, its nice knowing that our closest friends are similar. Its comfortable knowing they’ll react the same way and make decisions the same as well. But on the contrary, what happens when they share common faults as well? Could you ever change?

Your probably asking “Nate, where are you going with this?” haha, we’ll get there, just hear me out.  One of my favorite quotes comes from Albert Einstein, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing everyday and expecting change.”

I think its good to evaluate our friendships because if we ever want to change then this will be a great place to start. Our relationships can influence us. This can also affect our walk with Christ. If we’re never being pushed then nothing will ever happen. I just wanted to give you guys something to think about and find out if your closest friends are pushing you the right direction. Are they influencing your walk with Christ in a positive way? Do they challenge you? This can also be said about you. Are you encouraging your closest friends?

I would like to leave you guys with this passage, But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3;13

  1. These are great thoughts Nate. It is important to evaluate the company we keep …. I would also say, evaluate the type of friend that you are. Because, just as important as it is to need encouaragers in our lives we need make sure we too are willing to be an encouragement to others.
