Gonna Reign With Him in Glory!

Our identity in Christ is the most important thing we have in our lives as eternal souls. Lately, God has been teaching me numerous lessons from this pool of knowledge in my walk with Him, so Jesus has asked me to defer my original subject for this one as it is the basis for everything we do and how we live.

We have been translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light, we are called to put on the gifts of the Spirit. We have no power of our own to do this, yet God has provided “the way out” through our relationship with Him, the infusion of His divine power…HE is transforming us! I believe that is a huge part of the message of Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The power of His redemptive will…as opposed to us working up the changes within ourselves is what people tend to misunderstand on a regular basis. Man’s wisdom is substituted, which is not wisdom at all, since it imparts no life. Man’s wisdom is based on law; this was the very mistake the Pharisees made. Thus, we have adages like “God helps those who help themselves.” There has always been something about that saying that hit me sideways, and now I realize what it is. It is a form of man trying to come to God on his own merits, circumventing the cross, or as they say it in football, “doing an end run”.  Romans 5:6 says, “For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” This is followed up by the message in verse 10: “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” He will change us if we will only allow Him to do so.

It occurred to me that whenever anyone does something contrary to the Word or God’s character, it is because they either do not know Him personally and are not influenced by the Holy Spirit, or have been distracted by something else, and thus made themselves vulnerable to the direction of the enemy. There are only two masters; serve one and you deny the other.  It really is that simple. If we do not live in the freedom that Jesus has for us, we will become unwitting marionettes for the enemy. {Understanding this has been key in the practice of forgiveness for me}. The forces of darkness are only too willing to script things for us to think, say, and do that express hatred for God. We must keep our minds stayed on Him so that we have open hands to receive what He has for us. Then we can actualize Ephesians 2: 10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”

When my self-esteem is bottoming out, I try to remember that not only was I in no worse position when Jesus chose to save me, but that even what is considered a refuse heap can turn out to be compost, a place for growing things…a garden! Those things in my life that seem the darkest can provide the richest nutrients for what God has planned. Another physical example would be painting over black gesso {the primer for canvases}. Paintings done this way have colors that literally seem to “pop out” at the onlooker, thus telling a more compelling story. God can redeem anything!

I Peter 2: 9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.”

We the chosen, are “as bold as a lion …Prov. 28:1”, holy, righteous, gonna reign with Jesus in GLORY! Glory, glory, GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST for His great love with which He has loved us!!!
